This is an old favourite from the club, suitable for dark winter nights as it's generally well-lit and reasonably good pavements. There are shorter cut-off routes back to the club at Waterloo Road and Magdalen Road. The route can be described as 'undulating' mostly, but there's a definite hill to test you at Ketts Hill! (Avoided if you choose the shorter routes)
The name comes from the large number of chip shops that you encounter along the way. I think there used to be at least nine of them, but some have since converted to pizza or Indian outlets. See if you can count them all.
You can find the route here.
