The popular Wroxham 5k Series of three races takes place on Wednesday evenings in May, June and August each year on a fast, flat course (see an interactive map and profile) from the Broadland High School in Hoveton. You can pick and choose which races to enter - there's no obligation to do all three; but for those that do, there's a special memento. Results for the first two races are available here. The last race is on Wednesday 26th August 2009 at 7:15pm and incorporates the Norfolk County AAA 5k Championship for 2009. Two of the junior men's club records have been broken recently by Ben Russell. At the Chilly Willy 5k race in Peterborough on 8th March 2009, he set a time of 16 min 40 sec and came home in second place. Then just a week later Ben tackled the longer half marathon distance at our own Broadland Half Marathon, and clocked a new record time of 1h17m48s. This was enough to place Ben sixth overall in the race. For the ladies, Rachael Leathwood smashed the senior ladies marathon record by several minutes at the Bungay Half Marathon on 19th April, coming 8th overall in the race too, in a great time of 3h07m56s. ...and finally in this feast of record-breaking this spring, Tracey Curl set a new V45 ladies club record at the Friskney Half Marathon in Lincolnshire in a time of 1h27m19s, coming home as second lady in the race. You can find details of all the club records here. |
