This is an old favourite from the club, suitable for dark winter nights as it's generally well-lit and reasonably good pavements. There are shorter cut-off routes back to the club at Waterloo Road and Magdalen Road. The route can be described as 'undulating' mostly, but there's a definite hill to test you at Ketts Hill! (Avoided if you choose the shorter routes) The name comes from the large number of chip shops that you encounter along the way. I think there used to be at least nine of them, but some have since converted to pizza or Indian outlets. See if you can count them all. You can find the route here. |

Here's a more testing run for club nights that will let you see how well you're progressing. It's a three mile route on good pavements where you can put in some hard training! It's a bit undulating along the way. Warm up from the club till you get to the Constitution Hill roundabout at the ring road. This is the start of the run. Follow the ring road anticlockwise all the way to the Boundary, where you turn left down Aylsham Road. Keep going until just before the gates to the TA Centre. You can see the route and hill profile here. |
